Empowering a large scale analytics organization with an Analytics Center of Excellence
Here's how we empowered Analytics at Decathlon through a Center of Excellence (CoE) consisting of 5 Staff Individual Contributors, enabling alignment, collaboration, and scaling impact across 30 domain-oriented teams. In this presentation, we will explore how Decathlon, a leading retail organization specializing in sports, established an Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE) to drive technical alignment and people excellence across its analytics teams. With over 300 analytics professionals spread across domains, countries, and business units, we faced challenges in: maintaining consistent standards, fostering collaboration, scaling best practices. Our CoE approach combined direct support to domains with a Staff Analytics team and indirect support through a Chapter-based model. We focused on: aligning analytics initiatives with business goals, standardizing platforms and tooling, empowering teams to innovate. We will share how we: scaled training programs ("train the trainer" programs), supported the introduction of transversal tools like Tableau to 100,000 employees, supported teams for maximum impact. We will detail how we sourced bandwidth into teams that had their own priorities through Chapters without a dedicated budget by aligning the interests of all parties involved. You will hear practical insights into what worked, what didn't, and how this transformation benefited our global analytics community, delivering tangible business value and fostering a data-driven culture.
