Data OS for the AI Age: One System to Run Your Infra, Data & Apps
In the AI era, data teams are under pressure to scale fast, govern tightly, and integrate across an ever-expanding stack of tools—often with limited engineering resources. Tangram OS introduces a new kind of Data Operating System: a unified control plane that brings together infrastructure, data, and application ecosystems—while dramatically reducing operational overhead. This presentation introduces the concept of a Data OS—a platform-native abstraction for managing and integrating modern data systems across clouds. I will show how Tangram OS enables teams to: federate SQL queries over SQL compute backends using a Postgres wire-compatible endpoint, adopt open table formats like Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake and DuckLake, manage a universal catalog for everything from dataset assets to App managed resources, enforce IAM, and governance policies at scale for users, Apps and AI agents, build composable data products and operational workflows—all in one system. The architecture covers the Universal Catalog, compute/storage abstraction, and IAM service with a live demo of app deployment, federated system queries, and tooling bloat reduction.
